I’ve been reflecting this week about this over the past few days and I’ve realized we really complain far more than we give thanks. The cold weather this season has caused me to acknowledge how truly blessed I really am. I mean to think I have a roof over my head, a warm bed every night, food on the table, a loving wife, family, and friends. And above all to think I have a God that loves me so much I can’t even fully comprehend it, wow! What more could I really ask for?
Even the Mass readings today reaffirm that we are blessed and that God will always provide for us. Sometimes it might not be how or when we want Him to, but in the end He’s got everything under control. All we have to do is trust in Him and believe that He will fulfill His promises. It’s the duty of a father to provide for his children and what greater father do we have then the Lord God almighty!
It is also important to remember that this winter, specifically the next few weeks of Advent, are a time of preparation where we need to acknowledge and await the coming of Jesus Christ. After all that’s what Christmas is all about. May we not forget about Jesus and His love for us through this cold winter and may we allow His eternal, unconditional love to warm us from within. Amen.
