Don’t Forget About Jesus

Well in our case the lack of money, as with many of you, has been a big problem in our home. We have bills that have gone unpaid, we owe money, and we don’t have any savings. But we also give thanks to God that we have a roof over our heads. And though at times it feels like it, we haven’t gone without food. We sleep comfortably in our beds with our blankets and the heater on. We are so accustomed to having everything that it’s difficult when we don’t have it all. When we wake up in the morning and go to the bathroom, we know that we can shower with warm water. We don’t think about the people who live in the street, with no roof, no warm water, and no heater out in the cold. We don’t think about the people in other countries who live even worse. Sometimes it helps to think about them and reflect over our situation and sure enough we realize that we are blessed.

Our problems are minimal in comparison to the majority of the world. We are so blessed and we don’t even thank God. Perhaps it is for this reason that we are passing through this economic situation. Many have changed their way of thought, and in my case, my life has been transformed. It’s important to give thanks to God for everything we have, and not just the material things.

Contrary to what many think, Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus. We recognize that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and was born of the Virgin Mary. Even though he was divinely conceived he had to come into this world as a man. For this we can relate to Jesus, because he was one of us. He never had special teachings, he learned from His parents and His teachers just like us. And it for this reason that we should contemplate His example and realize that being the Son of God and man simultaneously, He lived His life centered in God.

Jesus made the greatest sacrifice for us. And for the love that He had for us and His obedience to His Father, He has saved us by paying the price with His own blood. Would you give your life to save someone not knowing if they would appreciate it? Sometimes we forget that we owe Him our lives. It was Jesus that gave us a second chance to be the people that God wants us to be. Upon accepting and recognizing all of this it impossible to forget about His birth. So this Christmas we are going to unite as a family to celebrate our kings, our savior, and our redeemer, as only He deserves. Merry Christmas to all.
