I share with you all as we continue during this Easter season. As we do, our time of adoration this Mon. p.m. at St. Ferdinand’s will be one of prayer for the women making the ACTS retreat this coming weekend.
Rights in Relation to Laws Articles

Rights in Relation to Laws

It is well that we understand the difference between these two realities. When I speak of we, I refer to Americans who live in a democratic republican form of government. My use of these two terms is not meant in reference to the Democrat or Republican political parties. A democracy is a form of government in which each and every citizen votes directly for the one who makes or enforces the laws. A republic is a form of government is one in which we are represented by those who make or enforce our laws.

Dear Friends, I introduce to you today a ministry for the advancement of the Kingdom of the Lord that I am now daring to accomplish. One of the primary ministries that I am now doing is functioning as some kind of liaison person with my ACTS brothers.
Trusting in God’s Plan for You Articles

Trusting in God’s Plan for You

When we hear the word obedience our minds immediately think of oppression and enslavement, but obedience does not necessarily mean either of these things. To be obedient is to have respect for the rules given to us, in this case, God's plan for our lives. Today is the Feast of St. Joseph and I will use him as a model for our own walk of faith as we celebrate his extraordinary obedience to the will of God.
Our Glorious Transformation Articles

Our Glorious Transformation

As the crazy weather here in Southern California bounces back and forth from hot to cold in preparation for spring, I've noticed that many of the plants and trees are blossoming and the flowers are blooming again. The trees that lost their leaves in the winter are putting forth new leaves. The bees are busy flying flower to flower collecting pollen and the caterpillars have begun their journey.
The Chronicles of Narnia Articles

The Chronicles of Narnia

This series of timeless classics by renowned Christian author C.S. Lewis have been brought to life in a beautiful film by none other than Walt Disney. The first of the books to be adapted into a movie is, of course, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I remember reading these books as a child and being pulled in by the adventure and intrigue, but even now as an adult I can still appreciate the story both as a book and as a movie.
A Seemingly Unfillable Void Articles

A Seemingly Unfillable Void

I think it's fair to say that all people are seeking one thing in their lives and that is true happiness. Many of them will never find it. Some will have it for awhile and lose it. What can give us true happiness? What is the meaning of life?
I Can’t Believe I’m Not God Articles

I Can’t Believe I’m Not God

In my few short years as a Christian I have learned so many things and grown in so many ways. But what stands out most to me now and what I realized rather unwillingly throughout my initial conversion—and am constantly reminded of as I continue my journey—is the simple and undeniable fact that I am not God.
Of God’s and Men Articles

Of God’s and Men

When it comes to the portrayal of Catholics in Hollywood—especially when it comes to priests and religious—there is always a dark and judgmental point of view. Of God's and Men shines light on that tainted image telling the true story of a group of Trappist monks living in Algeria.
Religion is More than Rules Articles

Religion is More than Rules

The topic of religion versus relationship with Jesus has been argued back-and-forth throughout the Christian blogosphere in the past weeks. Obviously, I favor the ol' Catholic "both/and" as opposed to taking one side of the argument. I take the side of religion, but only based on my relationship with God. I am, however, against the premise that religious people don't have, nor seek a relationship with God and that religion is just a list of rules that we are made to follow by an ancient, yet corrupt institution. I agree that our relationship with God is essential, but religion is what keeps that relationship growing.
In the Arms of the Bridegroom Articles

In the Arms of the Bridegroom

Man's relationship with God is one that can be described in various ways. Most people can relate to the image of God as Father, after all that is the way He chose to reveal Himself to us. But I recently wrote an article about the Blessed Trinity in which I explored the relationship with Jesus Christ as a marriage relationship, as husband and wife—or in the biblical language: the Church as bride and Jesus as bridegroom. I think this image is one that people tend to shy away from, especially men, but to me this image is one that I cherish and it has truly helped me to understand my relationship with God.
New Words, Same ‘Ol Mass Articles

New Words, Same ‘Ol Mass

On the first Sunday of Advent this year, the English-speaking Catholic community underwent a large change, adopting a new version of the Holy Mass that much more closely follows the original Latin translation. It was an important alteration, as it required generations of worshippers to put aside the nearly 40 years of words & prayers they had previously learned from Rome’s initial English adaptation, and to instead embrace atypical phrases & “cheat sheets” in order to correctly participate. While the Vatican and its internal hierarchy have promoted this new rendition of the Mass as both more reverent and accurate, a great deal of opposition has been voiced by not only English-speaking parishioners, but by priests and other members of the Church, as well.
