One of the biggest contraversies between Catholics and other Christians seems to be the role of Mary as our mother. Some would submit that honoring or venerating her is a usurpation of the worship given to Christ alone. Others might say that praying to the Blessed Virgin Mary is unnecessary because we can just go straight to Christ. Both of these are true when taken to the extreme, but in honoring our mother and asking for her prayers, we don't eliminate Christ or lessen His importance. Her desire was, is, and always remains for us to "do whatever he tells you".
