How does God see us? As a Father he wants to help his children—you and I—but we often get in the way. We make it impossible for Him to work in our lives—well, almost impossible, He is God remember. How? Well, like my son kicking and splashing, we are rolling around in our sin and selfishness, having a blast, not realizing he is trying to help us. We make ourselves out to be the poor victims instead of relying on our Father’s tender care. He wants to help us. He wants to get us into our “wedding garments” and prepare us for the “feast” of Heaven, but we won’t work with Him.
God’s will isn’t always easy for us to see. There are many times when we think we are being a “good person”, but God wants even more from us. He wants us to be holy. He wants us to live up to his vision of us, the best-version-of-ourselves. God wants you to be a saint. Hard to imagine, I know. But it’s true.
A friend of mine told me once that the world is a saint-making machine. That changed the way I looked at life. Every situation and circumstance we face is part of God’s plan to make us saints. Every relationship we have—children, husband, wife, friends—should be helping us to become not just happy, but holy. Are you working with God or against Him? How can you better allow His grace to transform you?
